Teenager pleads guilty to drink driving and causing accident - just days after her 18th birthday

The offences were committed on the A16 in New Waltham on December 24, just six days after Blakey’s 18th birthday.

Blakey had 64 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

At this time, Blakey was involved in a traffic accident at Low Farm Roundabout, whereby a road sign and lamp post were damaged.

She then failed to give her name and address to a person having reasonable grounds for requiring her to do so, and she did not report the accident to police as soon as reasonably practicable or within 24 hours of the occurrence of the accident.

Blakey pleaded guilty to both charges at Grimsby and Cleethorpes Magistrates’ Court on January 6.

For the drink-driving charge, Blakey was fined £250 and ordered to pay a £25 victim surcharge, and was disqualified from driving for 16 months (which can be reduced by four months if she chooses to complete a course).

For causing the traffic accident and failing to report it, Blakey was fined a further £100 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.
