Teens feel the beat

TOP DJs were in the house to entertain youngsters at a special dance event held at Dinnington’s Resource Centre.

Teenagers from all over the borough danced the night away to dance tunes from a host of DJs including chart-topping act Ultrabeat.

The night was the latest offering from JADE - a young people’s enterprise project based in Kiveton Park.

Organiser John Leaver said there was a great atmosphere on the night and thanked everyone who made it such a ‘fantastic’ success.

“We had 250 people come along and the kids were really excited about seeing Ultrabeat,” he said.

“And even though it was based in Dinnington we had people come from all over, so it was really good to see young people integrating and breaking down barriers.”

As well as a blend of national and local DJ talent, there were also several stands offering support and advice on a range of issues from health to drugs.

Said John: “It’s not about forcing information on youngsters, but about giving them the necessary advice as and when they need it.”

“There were also plenty of opportunities for young people to get involved in volunteering on the night, which meant they could really get involved.”

JADE is planning to hold a further dance event in October this year - for more information call 01909 515912.
