Ten appliances attend fire in shredder at recycling plant near Sleaford

A total of 10 fire crews attended reports of a waste recycling plant near Sleaford.

The incident happened on Wednesday night at 8pm at the Mid UK recycling site at Copper Hill Industrial estate on the High Dike between Barkston Heath and Ancaster.

Appliances from 10 fire stations were involved including a water carrier and aerial ladder.

There was fire damage to a recycling shredder and roof pannelling of the shed it was in, according to Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue.

FTwelve firefighters in breathing apparatus and using a portable pump put the flames out, which were burning through the roof of the industrial building.

It was said to have been caused by machinery over-heating.·

There were no injuries and the fire was contained within the building.

The company, which recycles domestic and industrial waste such as paper, card, plastic, gypsum and carpet, has suffered fires in the past at both the Barkston Heath site and its headquarters in Caythorpe.
