James Burrell, who attends Bicker Prep School, came up with the idea of making poppies out of red and green felt and selling them to parents and staff at his school gates

He sold 42 poppies for at least £2 each. Headteacher Julie Miles said: “I am sure he could have sold more.”

Heckington British Legion chairman Mike Warrington said: “It is pleasing that the younger generation have this level of awareness of the sacrifices the troops have made.”
