Tesco staff put best foot forward for cancer

STAFF at the Tesco store in Maltby have put on their walking gear to help raise vital funds for those affected by cancer.

The 20 employees walked between the Tesco town centre store in Rotherham to Maltby. The walk was organised by the community champions who work at the supermarket.

Amy Hebdon, Macmillan’s local fundraising manager, said: “Cancer affects everyone, we can all think of someone who’s been affected by cancer in some way.”

“Macmillan currently reaches one in two people affected but we want to be here for everyone affected. The Macmillan nurses are a valued and trusted source of expert information, advice and support to people affected by cancer, it costs £191 to fund a Macmillan Nurse for one day.”

“There are currently two million people in the UK living with cancer today and their needs are not being fully met. By 2030, it is estimated there will be four million people living with cancer.”

“Macmillan needs to raise more money than ever before to enable us to reach more people affected by cancer and provide them with the services they need. I’d like to thank everyone involved in the walk.”
