The Axholme Academy principal welcomes GCSE performance tables

Principal of The Axholme Academy in Crowle, Joe Sellars has welcomed this year's GCSE performance tables published this month.

He said this week: “I am really pleased with the performance of our students in 2015.

“They were a group of young people, well supported by their parents who worked really hard with their teachers to leave with excellent

results.”

In total 64.5 per cent of students left with five or more GCSEs at A*-C and 71 per centgained a C grade or better in both English and maths.

Mr Sellars added: “In terms of student progress 84 per cent made expected progress in English and 73 per cent in maths with many making much higher than expected progress.

“Forty per cent of our students also gained the English Baccalaureate which is a real achievement.

“In terms of value added our students once again performed better than similar students across the country.”
