Thousands flock to garden party fun!

MORE than 1,000 people turned out for some fun in the sun at Worksop’s first Great Big Summer Garden Party.

Visitors flocked to the event at Worksop Rugby Club on Stubbing Lane to soak up some summer entertainment.

Soap fans were also in for a treat with signing and photo opportunities from Adam Thomas who plays Adam Barton in Emmerdale.

The fun kicked off from 11am and included live music, dancing, fairground rides, sports, story-telling time, food court, giant slides and a licensed bar.

There will also be psychic entertainment, mini Olympics, princess and pirates dress up, assault courses and much more.

Organisers Alex Widdowson and Amie Anderson said The Great Big Summer Garden Party offers the Worksop community something different.

“It was a fantastic day which was extremely well attended,” said Alex, 27, from Sunnybank.

“We bought 500 wristbands to keep track of how many people came in and ran out quite early on.”

“We were trying to provide community events for Worksop people and planning has already started for next year’s - we’re hoping to make it an annual event.”
