The event, organised by Magna Vitae with funding from East Lindsey District Council, the CCC Big Local and Lincolnshire Community Foundation, has once again proved to be a popular and important event for the town.

Crowds gathered to enjoy fantastic entertainment, including a craft market organised by Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea Town Council, street theatre from Rhubarb Theatre, live music from Sarah Lowe, Aday and Lincolnshire’s premier band Stolen Fridays and great dance routines from Little Gems Academy of Performing Arts.

The illuminations were switched on at 10pm to the backdrop of an amazing firework show that wowed the audiences that packed onto the High Street and Central Promenade.

Cultural officer from Magna Vitae, David Willoughby, said: “It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the entertainment with smiles on their faces. I’d like to thank all involved in making the event a success – including all the performers and the partners.”

Portfolio holder for coastal economy at East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Steve Kirk, said: “The illuminations event is a highlight of the holiday season in Mablethorpe and I’m delighted that so many people turned out to enjoy the entertainment.

“The switch on demonstrates the power and importance of partnership working on the coast. I would like to congratulate all the groups and individuals involved in delivering this fantastic event.”
