Thurcroft school is now an academy

A THURCROFT school has converted into an academy and is set to be relaunched for pupils and parents in September.

Thurcroft Junior School has joined the Aston Community Education Trust (AECT), which includes Aston Academy.

Pupils will wear a new uniform provided by the trust and induction meetings have been held with parents and carers.

John Barton, chairman of ACET said “ We are delighted to welcome Thurcroft Junior Academy into ACET.”

“As a sponsor trust, our aim is to provide support to enable the school to focus entirely on raising standards of attendance, behaviour, learning, teaching and achievement.”

Eunice Newton, Principal of Aston Academy and a trustee of ACET said: “We are extremely grateful for the interest and support we have received from the Thurcroft community, with whom we will continue to work to raise standards for the children of Thurcroft Junior Academy.”

“Together we will strive to accelerate the development of Thurcroft Junior Academy into the outstanding school that its children and the local community of Thurcroft want and deserve.”
