Timber business is up for prestigious accolade

CELEBRATIONS are in order for one local firm who have scored two nominations in awards for business excellence.

Vegetable storage box manufacturer HK Timbers, based in Gainsborough, has been shortlisted in two categories of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Manufacturing Excellence 2012 awards.

HK Timbers production director David O’Neill said that they were delighted.

“I am extremely proud of the HK Timbers team who have driven significant improvements to the business,” he said.

“The company already has a leading position in the vegetable storage solutions market and we are working hard to strengthen and develop the business in current and new markets.”

He continued: “It is the commitment of our staff which has allowed the company to be shortlisted for these prestigious awards.”

Philippa Oldham, Head of Manufacturing at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers added: “HK Timbers is a great business which is helping to keep manufacturing at the heart of the Lincolnshire economy.”

HK Timbers has been shortlisted for the Financial Management and Most Improved Company award categories.

The winning companies in each category will receive an award at the Manufacturing Excellence Award Ceremony at the Dorchester in London on 27th November.
