Todwick toddlers celebrate grant

There are some huge smiles at a Todwick toddler group after they received some brilliant news.

Members of Todwick Toddlers playgroup are celebrating after they were awarded hundreds of pounds to help secure its future - and go towards buying some new toys and equipment.

The playgroup was given £1,500 from South Yorkshire Community Foundation which will ensure that it remains open and available for the community.

The grant has enabled the group to buy soft seating equipment for a new reading corner, soft cushions, new toys and a large storage unit for all the craft materials.

Some of the money given will also be used for the weekly running of the group at Todwick Village Hall.

“We are delighted to have been awarded the money,” said volunteer Liz Wainwright.

“We have already purchased some new toys which all the toddlers seem to enjoy.”

“We aim to provide a safe environment for the toddlers to enjoy themselves through play and craft.”

“Now they will also be able to enjoy story time at the end of each session.”

“We would like to thank AESSEAL Charitable Trust Grassroots Endowment Fund for South Yorkshire and the Loscar Wind Community Distribution from Grassroots Endowment Fund for providing the money, allowing our toddler group to stay part of the community.”

The groups meets at Todwick Village Hall every Tuesday from 9am to 11.30am.

It welcomes all members of the community with children of pre-school age.

The South Yorkshire Community Foundation is a registered charity which helps to improve the lives of local communities.

Through the Grassroots Grants Endowment Challenge, 27 new charitable funds were created to support the future of local communities, including the AESSEAL Charitable Trust Grassroots Endowment Fund.

The challenge saw local businesses, trusts and people contributed to the programme that saw all donations matched pound for pound to create funding for the area.
