Town Council to host Party in the Park for The Queen in Mablethorpe

Mablethorpe and Sutton Town Council is inviting everyone, young and old to join them to celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday with a Party in the Park.

This will be the main Queen’s birthday celebration event for Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea and Trusthorpe.

The festivities will be taking place on Sunday, June 12 at the North end of Queens Park in Mablethorpe.

A full day of fun is set for everyone to enjoy and kicks off from 12noon until 9.30pm.

Highlights of the day include the official Queen’s Toast and National Anthem at 1pm, New Orleans Jazz Band, ‘Easy Riders’ will be performing live during the afternoon with Classic Rock Band, ‘The Banned’ taking over to play in the evening.

It will also be Mayor of Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea and Trusthorpe, Councillor Joyce Taylor’s first main public engagement in the town since her recent appointment to office.

Coun Taylor told the Leader of her excitement ahead of the celebrations.

She said: “It is really nice to see we are doing something to mark the Queen’s 90th Birthday, an event that even the older ones can get involved with and enjoy.

“It will be lovely to see a number of them take pride of place at the top table. The events working group have been working really hard putting this event together and I look forward to being part of the celebrations.

“All we need now is some nice weather.”

Helen Parkhurst from the town council’s event working group said: “For four months now we have been working to be able to offer a fun packed day for all ages and to crown one resident (nearest to the Queens birthday), Queen for the afternoon.

“Time and effort has gone into planning this fun filled day in Queens Park for all our residents.

“Having live music will set the scene for an afternoon picnic and the evening for a lively rock band.”

Coastal FM will also be on scene to provide music from the 40s to the 00s throughout the day.

There will also be a licensed beer tent on offer as well as all of the Queens Park attractions being open for all to enjoy.

Plus for the youngsters, there will be childrens games and a Punch and Judy show.

Anyone who is 90 or over is also able to take advantage of a place at the top table from12noon-1pm, which is free - so why not get involved with all of the celebrations pride of place.
