Town set for fashion show

Now in its 26th year, Malwend Models will once again hold its renowned Gainsborough fashion show

Malwend Models chooses a different local cause to support each year, and this time it is The Stroke Association.

The organisation was originally started by Malcolm and Wendy Scott. When they retired, Chairman Chrissy Baldock took over.

Chrissy said: “All the models are local people aged from three to 65, all shapes and sizes, and our aim is to raise money for local charities. We have a lot of fun and it gives the young people something to contribute to.”

“The Stroke Association is very close to my heart as my uncle had two major strokes, which sadly resulted in his death. In January my father also had a stroke and is recovering slowly.”

Chrissy added: “We want to raise as much money as possible to help The Stroke Association carry on its fantastic work.”

Clothes will be modelled from shops including Dorothy Perkins, Laura Ashley, Primark, New Look, Peacocks, Burtons, and local independent retailers.

The Stroke Association’s Debbie Rawlings said: “I’m sure this will be an energetic and successful event, with the money going towards preventing strokes in Gainsborough, and reducing their effect by supporting local stroke survivors.”

A raffle will also be held on the night.
