Motorists have been suffering delays in the Sluice Bridge area of the town in the first few days of this week.

After being approached by the Standard over the matter, a spokesman for the county council said there had been an issue at the traffic lights in Fydell Street near its junction with Lister Way.

A power supply fault meant the lights were no longer monitoring how many vehicle were waiting at the lights, they said, and resorted to a standard form.

The spokesman said the council were informed of the fault yesterday and fixed it today.

They apologised for the inconvenience caused.
