Transport users action group

BUS and rail users in the Gainsborough area are invited to have their say at the first meeting of a new passengers group.

Gainsborough Rail and Bus group (GRaB) will meet at Morton Village Hall, Mill Lane, at 2pm.

The group has been set up by local people including Coun Lesley Rollings, following the recent successful campaign to bring an axed Stagecoach service back to the village.

She said it had become clear that there were transport concerns in the area which could be addressed by forming a transport users group.

“This group will be a residents and users group that both Lincolnshire County Council and the bus and rail companies can communicate with,” she said.

“It will give people somewhere to go with their ideas, suggestions and complaints.”

“It’s very exciting and should enable us to get a proper plan together for public transport in Gainsborough.”

The GRaB group will act as both a pressure group and a promoter of public transport.

Organisers behind the group suggested that with rising fuel costs, more people would be turning to public transport.

But they say the Gainsborough area is poorly served at present, especially in the evenings and on Sundays.

Anyone who is interested in securing and maintaining good public transport for the area is invited to attend Saturday’s meeting.
