A46 Rasen to Caistor to close during day for works

Daytime closures on the A46 between Market Rasen and Caistor will come in to force next week.

Work to replace the worn out carriageway between the A1103 (Osgodby Top Road) junction to the B1434 (Holton le Moor) junction, will start on Tuesday, May 26.

The total programme of works is expected to last for three weeks.

As part of the works, a full road closure will be in place from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Diversions will be in place, looping cars and light goods vehicles through Market Rasen on the A631 to Ludford, on to the B1225 (Caistor High Street) up to the Caistor bypass and along the A46 to Usselby, and vice versa.

However, HGVs will face a much longer detour - due to the low railway bridge in Market Rasen - taking the A46 to Lincoln, A158 to Wragby, A157 to Burgh on Bain, the B1225 to the Caistor bypass and back on to the A46 to Usselby, and vice versa.

Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “We’ll be doing everything we can to limit disruption throughout the three-week project, including maintaining access for residents and emergency services.

“I want to thank everyone for bearing with us during these improvements. Not only will they help keep the area’s road network up and running, but they’ll also mean smoother and safer journeys for everyone travelling on the A46.”

• The final phase of resurfacing works to the B1434 in North Kelsey will also be carried out from May 26.

A full road closure will be in place from 7pm to 6am each weekday, with the signed diversion via B1434/A1084/A46/ B1205/B1434, and vice versa.
