Air Ambulance gets £12,000 boost

The money was raised by the Rauceby War Weekend, held every August for the past seven years.

Thousands attended the commemorative war event in South Rauceby, each year to see the war time re-enactments, fly pasts, classic vehicles, fun fairs and also dance at the sell-out 1940’s Victory Ball.

Mr Elkington, chairman of the event’s organising committee, has led the organisation of the show for it’s entire seven-year history, but he is now retiring from it and brought the event to a close.

Mr Elkington said: “It has been a fantastic seven years. The event has grown and grown; so much so that it’s become a victim of its own success and I can no longer manage it. It’s a shame but as they say, all good things must come to an end.

“I’m proud to say that it has raised £53,700 in total for three charities; The British Legion, Marie Curie and Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance. They are all very worthy charities I’m so glad the event, it’s organisers and attendees could all support.”

Emma Young, Fundraising Manager of Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance said: “Our charity has been incredibly fortunate to have such support from the Rauceby War Weekend and William Elkington.

“We’re, of course, sad to see the end of the event but believe we’ve had seven years of very good luck thanks to William, his small team of helpers and the general public who put their hands in their pockets to help our life-saving service. We thank them all.”
