A series of road closures will start on Monday September 7 and will be in place from 7pm to 6am, Monday to Friday.

The works are expected to last for up to four weeks (subject to suitable weather).

Karen Cassar, Assistant Director - Highways, said: “Our works to improve the A17/A153 junction near Sleaford Rugby Club are continuing to go well, and we’re now just over a month away from completing this important improvement scheme.

“Before we finish, we’ll be completely rebuilding the A17 slip roads and the A153 near the rugby club junction. However, the roads need to be closed while we carry out these works.

“To minimise disruption to people traveling in and around Sleaford, we’ll only be closing the roads overnight and in phases while we reconstruct the roads here.

“The good news is that, weather permitting, the new A17/A153 junction slip lanes and traffic signals will be in full operation from early October.”

The plan is for the works to be carried out in phases:

Phase 1 – A17 entry and exit slip roads (up to five nights starting from Monday September 7).

Diversion route via A17 Holdingham Roundabout to Kirby La Thorpe, and vice versa.

Phase 2 – A153 north of the A17 junction (up to six nights).

Diversion route via A15 North / B1181 Scopwick / B1188 Ruskington, and vice versa.

Phase 3 – A153 south of the A17 junction (up to seven nights).

Diversion route via A15 North / B1181 Scopwick / B1188 Ruskington, and vice versa.

Following on from the works at the rugby club junction, improvements to Holdingham Roundabout are set to start in early 2021. This project will see additional lanes added at each approach to the roundabout, along with the installation of traffic signals at some of the roundabout’s approaches.

The total cost of the rugby club junction and Holdingham Roundabout projects is £8.25m. This is being funded by the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, North Kesteven District Council, Lincolnshire County Council and developer contributions.
