Roads affected, school closures and bus routes not running due to more snow overnight

Bus routes and schools are affected in the Sleaford area after a further covering of snow overnight.

According to Lincolnshire county council highways, A and B roads in the county have been treated but minor roads are risky .

Lincolnshire Police said via Twitter: "There are some icy roads out there again this morning, as we are now starting to get reports of vehicles sliding off roads. Please take care and drive to the conditions on all roads, as even those that have been gritted may still have icy patches."

Snow and ice has made the A15 between Osbournby and Bourne bad, particularly around the Folkingham and Aslackby area, according to reports.

The A607 is also closed between Welbourn and Wellingore.

Carre's Grammar School and Kesteven and Sleaford High School are closed due to adverse weather conditions for staff and pupil travel, as well as bus services being affected. Pointon's St Gilbert of Sempringham School, Caythorpe Schooll and the Ingoldsby Academy are also closed to key worker children today.

Osbournby School has also closed, stating: "Road conditions have not allowed enough staff to get to school to open safety.

Home learning will continue for all children."

Sleafordian Coaches have taken the decision to suspend services as have Call Connect in the Sleaford area.

Sleafordian said: "Following road assessments early this morning all bus services are suspended due to adverse road conditions.

"We will update you later this morning regarding afternoon services.

"Thank you for your understanding, this is never a decision we take lightly however passenger and driver safety is our utmost priority."
