Anglian Water roadworks will begin work on Monday, March 16, to install a new valve on its water main on Ermine Street in Ancaster.

The company says the work will take place near the junction with Sleaford Road and will help to ensure the resilience of local water supplies in the unlikely event of a future burst.

In order to complete this work, that section of Ermine Street will be closed for approximately two weeks, and will see traffic leaving and entering village diverted via the A153, A15, A17 and High Dike, and vice versa - a diversion of 14 miles to drive between one end of the village and the other.

Teams will be working between 7.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, with weekend work taking place on March 28 and 29 to complete the repairs.

There will also be an evening where teams will need to work throughout the night to install the new valve while water usage is at its lowest. However, customers will be notified 48 hours in advance of this work taking place, says Anglian Water.

The company pledges that access to properties will be maintained at all times for residents on Ermine Street throughout the work. Local bus routes are also likely to be affected with further information available at www.centrebus.info.
