Tributes for Alex

TRIBUTES have been paid to a Thorpe Salvin teenager who was ‘full of promise for a bright future.’

Alex Reid, 16, passed away in her sleep during the early hours of Wednesday 27th June at her home on Common Road.

The teenager, a former pupil at Todwick Primary, attended Sheffield High School and was about to complete her GCSE exams.

A spokesman for the school said: “It is with great sadness that we learned of the tragic death of Alex Reid, a year 11 student at Sheffield High School.”

“Our thoughts are with her family, who have lost a loving daughter and sister.”

“Alex was a lovely girl, always smiling, who excelled at drama and sport, and was well-known and well-liked by all who knew her.”

“She was about to complete her GCSE exams and had just begun a work experience placement at a local hospital.”

“Alex was full of promise for a bright future.”

“Her untimely death is a tragedy for her family, her friends and the school community here, and our staff are rallying round to support and console Alex’s classmates and friends.”

Alex’s father is John Reid, a well known GP at Kiveton Park Medical Practice.

A message on their website said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.”

“Sympathy cards may be left a reception and will be passed onto the family.”

An inquest into Alex’s death was opened and adjourned at Doncaster Coroner’s Court this week.
