TV judges to decide Calum’s BGT fate

GAINSBOROUGH fans of Britain’s Got Talent are coming to terms with the shock elimination of dance troupe Four Corners including local lad Calum Flynn.

The London-based dancers lost out at the semi-final stage of the talent show on Monday night.

But after rave reviews from the celebrity panel there is still a chance they could make Saturday’s live final, if the judges use their ‘wild-card’ choice to send them through.

Calum, 18, a former pupil at Trent Valley Academy and Francis Olive Anderson School, said it had been ‘amazing’.

“The experience on Britain’s Got Talent has been amazing but very hard work,” he said.

“All of us from Four Corners have put so much effort in and we are proud of the outcome.”

Four Corners performed an energetic routine to Poison by Nicole Scherzinger, which began with Calum dropping from the roof on a wire.

The 17 dancers - 16 boys and one girl - leaped and popped around the stage with skill, style and effortless cool.

“All of you are so strong, so tight,” said judge Alesha Dixon.

“It’s contemporary and I love the choreography. I think you are the best dance group in the competition.”

Even difficult to please Simon Cowell was impressed. He said: “We have seen a lot of dance groups tonight and this is by far the best of the evening.”

“I think there’s a really good chance of you making it through to the finals.”

But despite fans voting in Gainsborough and across the country, Four Corners failed to make the final selection.

Calum’s mum Sara Kelsey, who watched the show at home, said: “I’m still very proud of Calum and Four Corners.”

“I just hope they get the wild card at the end of the week.”

“I have spoken to Calum since the show and he’s ok. We haven’t seen the last of Four Corners.”

Calum started dancing aged 13 and moved to London at just 16 to take up a scholarship with the Urdang Academy. He is set to graduate in musical theatre and dance in June.
