Twinning guests in Spilsby have a ball

A party of 49 on an exchange trip to Spilsby from France had a ball - in spite of handing back the trophy in the annual football tournament.

The visitors from Fresnay Sur Sarthe stayed with host families in Spilsby, who met them on the Friday at a Spilsby and District Twinning Association reception at the New Life Centre.

Spilsby has been twinned with Fresnay Sur Sarthe for more than 20 years. During the weekend the guests visited The Deep in Hull, enjoyed fish and chips in Skegness and took a walk around the amusement 
park.

On the Saturday, Spilsby emerged the eventual victors of a football match with a 5-4 scoreline.Medals were awarded to every player and the J&A Trophy was presented by Mrs Val Nixon of J&A (International) Ltd. A reception was held at the Franklin Hall before the party departed on the Sunday.

The President of Fresnay sur Sarthe Twinning, Therese Wardevoir, thanked everyone for their hospitality and received a gift from the Mayor of Spilsby, Coun Julia Pears, who said that she was pleased to support the twinning.
