Two men attacked in Aston

TWO men were attacked with baseball bats in Aston on Saturday evening.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 40-year-old and 31-year-old were attacked while standing outside a row of shops on Rosegarth Avenue about 9.30pm.

The two men, both from the local area, were standing outside a row of shops on Rosegarth Avenue when a white transit van pulled up alongside them.

Two men got out of the van and assaulted both the victims before returning to the van and driving off.

In less than a minute, the van returned with three more men and all five got out of the vehicles. They attacked the 40-year-old with baseball bats and snooker cues before fleeing from the area in the van.

The 40-year-old man sustained serious injuries, including severe cuts to his head and was taken to Rotherham Hospital for treatment. The 30-year-old suffered minor injuries which did not require medical attention.

Officers investigating this incident are appealing for witnesses or for anyone with information, to call South Yorkshire Police immediately on 101 and quote reference 1272 of 10 March.
