BREAKING NEWS: Police end search for Anne Simpson at Sutton on Sea caravan site

THE police search for missing woman Anne Simpson at a caravan site at Sutton on Sea has ended with no findings.

Lincolnshire Police’s underwater search teams have been at Lakeside Caravan Park at Sutton on Sea after a tip off was made last week from a phone box in Leicestershire.

Anne has been missing since September 2004, when she disappeared from her home in Skegness.

Police have been at the Springs-owned site since Tuesday but have today confirmed that their search was fruitless.

A spokesperson added that other lines of enquiry will be continued and have not ruled out returning to the lake at Lakeside ‘if deemed necessary’.

Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Storey said: “Although the work of the divers has been completed for the time being, this remains an active enquiry and I would renew my appeal for anyone with information relating to Anne’s disappearance to contact Lincolnshire Police or Crimestoppers”.

A 63-year-old man has been released on bail after being arrested in the Brixham area in South Devon ‘in connection with Anne’s disappearance’, and was held at Torquay Police Station before his release.

The search for Anne was rekindled after a plea from her daughters in September last year, on the seventh anniversary of her disappearance, which police believe led to the anonymous male phone call made last week.

It was made in the Wigston area of Leicestershire, near where Anne used to live.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 35 of 15 May.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
