UPDATE 2: Police name Horncastle pensioner who died after collision with car '˜driven by her husband'

Residents in Horncastle have spoken of their shock after a pensioner was killed in a road traffic collision on Sunday (June 5) lunchtime.

Emergency vehicles rushed to the scene of the incident in Stanhope Road just after 12 noon.

The pensioner - who has today (June 7) been named by police as 89-year-old Sybil Bush - was a pedestrian, and died after being involved in a collision with a Nissan car being reversed by her husband, who is in his 90s.

Asked about the incident, police confirmed that the driver had been ‘spoken to’ by officers.

One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: “It appears as though it was a tragic accident.

“I don’t want to say anything else. The couple are well known locally and it is absolutely tragic.”
