As reported previously, the pedal cyclist - who was local to the area - collided with a stationary Mercedes parked on Ludborough Road at around 3.10pm on Friday (July 8).

He was airlifted to Queens Medical Centre with serious injuries, but has since sadly passed away.

Formal ID procedures need to take place before police can formally name the victim.

The cause of death also needs to be formally established, in case a medical episode or other circumstances occurred prior to the collision.

The police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident and, in particular, they are keen to trace a female who was driving a small blue car nearby at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 239 of July 8.
