UPDATE: Cyclist in his 70s taken to hospital after being involved in collision with a car in Sleaford

According to Lincolnshire Police, the incident was reported at around 4.14pm and involved a red Vauxhall Corsa and a pedal cyclist at the junction of Rookery Avenue.

The cyclist, a man thought to be in his 70s, was taken to hospital for treatment.

A first responder, a paramedic car, ambulance and the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance all attended as well as a number of police units.

The air ambulance landed in a field off Northfield Road at Quarrington for the medic team to reach the casualty.

The road was blocked between the junctions of Clay Hill Road and George Street and Rookery Avenue and reopened at around 6pm.

In a Twitter message from Sleaford Police, they added: "Thanks to the members of public who were first on scene at the road traffic collision on Grantham Rd, your first aid and assistance was brilliant. Secondly we really appreciate it when drivers do not try to drive through the road closures! No one did."
