Update: Dead whale found in Mablethorpe has now been removed

A small Minke whale that found washed up on the beach in Mablethorpe on Sunday morning (May 8) has now been removed this morning (Thursday).

The district council has confirmed that the whale was removed at 4.30am.

The whale was found near Seaview Car Park and early and indications were that it had been dead for some time.

The whale was quickly cordoned and the district council explained that they would deal with the situation ‘as respectfully as possible.’

The incident follows three sperm whales that were washed up on the East Lindsey coastline earlier this year.

The council said the authority was not linking them at this time due to the difference in species.
