UPDATE: Missing pet tortoise '˜Flash' has been found

A beloved pet tortoise of 40 years has been found after going walk-about in Metheringham Fen.

The creature, called Flash, was found this morning in the village and reunited with his relieved owners.

His slow getaway, and the swift vigilence of his owners, ensured he wasn’t able to get too far - and he was found today in a nearby garden in Tan Vats.

Owner Hayley Bryan said; “I think the awful weather slowed him down. I feel so lucky, maybe I should buy a lottery ticket!”

Thursday 3.51pm: Have you seen beloved pet tortoise Flash, who has been missing from his home in Metheringham Fen since Sunday?

The creature has been with the same family for more than 40 years and is believed to be at least 45 years-old.

He went missing from his garden in Tan Vats between midday and 4.30pm and is believed to have crossed the bridge over the Delph nature reserve onto Blankney Fen.

His owner Hayley Bryan is worried about his safety and desperate to trace him.

“I have had Flash for two and-a-half years,” explained Hayley. “He previously belonged to my auntie and uncle and lived in Accrington, Lancashire. My auntie asked me to have him after my uncle died after a long illness. I feel so guilty and I am very worried about him.”
