Update: Power cut restored in Worksop after high winds cause blackout

Western Power Distribution confirmed that power was lost to parts of the town, as well some of the surrounding areas, at 5.50pm.

A spokesman for the company said that high winds had been to blame.

He said: “The engineers managed to reroute the source to get power back at 6pm.”

“We will patrol when there is daylight to see if any damage was caused.”

The high winds are continuing to cause damage across the region. Parts of Carolgate in Retford have been cordoned off due to safety concerns, while Bassetlaw Council closed some of its parks and cemeteries this afternoon.
