UPDATE - Roads reopened after major gas leak on A607 in Navenby saw properties evacuated

Police say roads in Navenby have now been reopened after a major gas leak was stopped.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman thanked all residents and motorists for their patience after the A607 at Navenby was closed this morning (Tuesday) by police due to a major gas leak.

According to a Lincolnshire Police spokesman, the A607 road was closed between the junction with the B1202 Heath Lane and Green Man Road in Navenby.

The spokesman said: “Just before 7.30am we were alerted to reports of a smell of gas on the A607 Lincoln Road, where it is believed that a grass cutter may have damaged a gas pipe.”

National Grid had attened to resolve the situation. She added: “Nearby properties were evacuated to a care home in the area.”

A fire crew were also called to the scene as a precaution.
