UPDATE SATURDAY 4.40PM: Man (23) dies after collision with HGV near Ruskington

A 23-year-old man has died after he was hit by a HGV near Ruskington in the early hours of this morning.

The man was walking on the A153 Main Road between Anwick and Speedway Corner when he was in collision with a Volvo HGV just before 2.10am.

Paramedics were called to the accident but the man died at the scene and his immediate family have been informed.

The HGV driver, a 32-year-old man from Ruskington, was uninjured.

Anyone who saw the collision or anyone walking along the section of the road before it but have not yet spoken to police should call the Lincolnshire Police Collision Witness Hotline on 01522 558855 or the non-emergency 101 number, quoting incident reference 43 of February 27.

The crash brings the number of fatalities on the roads of Lincolnshire this year to 14.

SATURDAY 9.20AM: Pedestrian in collision with a HGV near Anwick

Emergency services were called to a crash involving a pedestrian and a HGV on the A153 between Anwick and North Kyme this morning.

The collision, which a a Lincolnshire Police spokesman described as being “very serious”, happened in Main Road at about 2am this morning.

The road was closed immediately after the accident and diversions were put in place.
