UPDATE: Suicide suspected after man found dead in Boston

Police investigating the death of a 23-year-old man in Boston now believe the incident to be a suicide.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing six police cars, an ambulance and a white van outside a home in Fishtoft Road, near Ann’s Chip Shop around 5.20pm last night.

Residents living in the area feared there had been a stabbing. Barry Oakes, landlord of the Napoleon Inn, said: “Customers were saying it was a stabbing. Police were doing door-to-door enquiries along Fishtoft Road and into Church Road for about two hours last night.”

Eye witnesses close to the scene near Ann’s Chip Shop reported at about 5.20pm that there were six police cars, an ambulance and a white van on scene.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police confirmed door-to-door enquiries were made. He said: “Initially the cause was unexplained and enquiries were made but officers are now happy there are no suspicious circumstances.

“The coroner has been informed.”
