UPDATE SUNDAY 12PM: Man arrested after ‘domestic-related incident’ in Boston

A police operation which reportedly involved armed officers took place in Witham Place, Boston, on Saturday.

The 40-year-old man was arrested after an operation that reportedly involved armed police in Witham Place at about lunchtime yesterday.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assault in Boston on Saturday was also questioned in relation to matters of threats to kill and possession of a firearm.

“The man has been released on a short police bail until later this week to allow the investigation to continue.”

SATURDAY 3.10PM: Man arrested after ‘domestic-related incident’ in Boston

A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a major police incident in Boston this lunchtime.

It happened in Witham Place where what has been described as “a significant police presence” was put into operation whilst the arrest went ahead.

The man arrested is in custody at Boston Police Station and enquiries into the “domestic-related incident” are ongoing.

Earlier, there were unconfirmed reports of armed police having been drafted into the area while people were directed away from Witham Place by police.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “Local residents are thanked for their patience and co-operation during the incident.”

SATURDAY 1.20PM: Police “have nothing to say” about Boston incident currently in progress

Police are staying tight-lipped at the moment about reports of an operation believed to be involving armed officers in Boston today.

News that people were being moved away from an area of Witham Place broke about 50 minutes ago.

However, no details have been made public as yet regarding the precise nature of the incident and a Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We have nothing to say about this incident in Boston at the moment.”

SATURDAY 1PM: Police incident in progress in Boston town centre

Reports are emerging of police operation involving armed officers who are in place at an area of Boston today.

The incident, of which there are no firm details as yet, is thought to be taking place in Witham Place, between Norfolk Street and Witham Street.

One person near the scene said that people were being directed down Witham Place by police.
