UPDATE: Woman in ‘stable condition’ after being ‘hit’ by police car

A woman who was ‘hit’ by a police car on Tuesday evening is now in a stable condition.

The incident happened on Memorial Way, Worksop, just before 4.30pm.

The incident has also been reffered to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), which is understood to be standard practice.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “A female pedestrian who was injured in a collision with a police car in Worksop on Tuesday (29 December) is now in a stable condition in hospital in Sheffield.

“The collision, involving a marked police vehicle, happened shortly after 4.30pm in Memorial Avenue.”

“A thorough investigation of the circumstances of the collision is underway.”

All major roads towards the town centre were cordoned off and police officers were in attendance at the scene.

The incident forced motorists to turn around and take routes back away from the town centre during rush hour. Bus services were also affected.
