The school girl managed to hide from the men before escaping.

Parents at nearby Langold Dycarr Community School received a text message alerting them to the incident - but Portland parents said on social media they had not received any communications from the school.

A spokesperson for Outwood Grange Academies Trust said: “After reporting the incident to the police, the academy followed its school safe procedures. Given that the students are of secondary age we informed them directly and issued a statement to all staff which was then read out to students in the academy to ensure they were aware of what had happened before they left the academy site later that day.”

Police are now appealing for information.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that this incident has been reported to us and is being investigated.

“If you have any information about this incident or saw or heard any suspicious activity in the Carlton-in-Lindrick area on Wednesday morning, call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 126 of 13 January.”
