Van fire on A17 in Swineshead

Firefighters have been called out to a van alight on the A17/A1121 junction in Swineshead today.

A crew from Donington were called out to Main Road, Swineshead Bridge, just before 5.10pm.

Two water hose reels were used to put out the fire while crew members wore breathing apparatus.

Earlier, a wheelie bin fire in a lay-by off the A16 in Wyberton was put out by a crew from Boston who used a water hose reel.

Meanwhile, firefighters from two stations came to the aid of a horse described as “in medical distress” at a horse box in Kirton on Monday.

Crews from Kirton and Spalding used specialist animal rescue equipment to help the horse after its problems were reported to the fire service just before 12.15pm.
