The plastic eggs have been pulled from all stores nationwide, because Trading Standards fear children may end up choking on them after mistaking them for the tasty chocolate treat.

The packs of decorative foam eggs, imported from China, were banned after Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards raised concerns that children could choke on them.

Poundland agreed to take down packs of ‘decorative eggs’ after being advised by trading standards officers that they were likely to contravene food imitation safety rules.
