Two crews from Worksop and two from Retford were called at 10.55am to reports of a fire on Clarence Road. Paramedics were also in attendance.

The fire service said it was 10sqm of wood and tyres alight in a one-floor building of 40m x 60m.

Dave Spyle, a resident on the street, said: “It went up quick. At the beginning of the year there was a fire here every week. I looked out the window and saw it.”

One woman said: “I was walking to the shops when I saw the smoke. They’ve said I need to stay here for now.”

A Notts Fire spokesman said crews used three jets and breaking-in gear at the scene.

The stop message was received at 12.01.

There are no reports of injuries.
