The duo were meeting staff members at each of the towns’ stations and hoping to speak to train users.

The visit from Mr Kelly comes a week after a £13 million investment in the East Midlands was announced and he spoke about how the money was going to pay for new ticket machines and other upgrades.

Although he could not go into detail about the plans, he said Boston and Skegness stations would be examined to see if anything could be done.

Mr Warman said he had been inspired to organise the surgery after constituents contacted him with concerns over the area’s railways.

He said he would be like to hear about passenger feedback and said staff had said the current franchise is better than some of the previous ones.

He said he wanted to hear more about the details of the £13 million investment and how to shape the details ‘in the best interests of the constituents’.
