VIDEO: Firefighters battle blaze at Langold primary school

Firefighters tackled a blaze at Langold Dyscarr community school this evening (Wednesday, November 11).

It is understood the fire, which began at around 5pm, started in the school’s kitchen. School Road, which is where the school is located, has been cordoned off by police.

Crews from Worksop, Harworth, Retford, Mansfield and Derbyshire extinguished the fire using water jets. The fire was apparently out by 17:45pm and firefighters are now trying to clear the building of smoke.

The school’s caretaker, named Keith, said that nobody had been hurt, although paramedics were seen at the scene.

He added that no children were in the building at the time of the fire.

Staff including teachers, cleaners and the headteacher who were in the building have been evacuated.
