VIDEO: Firefighters tackle blaze at old metal scrap merchants

Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze at the old scrap metal merchants, Thompson’s.

The blaze in Summergangs Lane, Gainsborough, started around 7.25am this morning (Friday 17th April).

Initially there were two seats of fire. One seat of fire has been extinguished and one skip fire is still alight.

Fire crews are using three main jets, monitors and breathing apparatus.

There are currently three crews on site, two from Lincolnshire and one from Nottinghamshire.

It is thought they will be there for the rest of today.

Incident commander, Darren Stone, said: “Good progress is being made and we are currently dragging the materials out and damping them down.”
