VIDEO: Highlights from SO Festival in Skegness

Those not put off by the downpours earlier were treated to a SO Festival spectacle never seen before – a show called Mù by internationally renowned French troupe Transe Express.

Garden characters on stilts wound their way among families behind the Embassy Theatre, watered by a woman performing acrobatics high above them, who could easily have been plucked out of the poem ‘Mary, Mary, quite contrary’.

The show – a UK premiere – featured haunting music and song, a parade of illuminated fish puppets and fireworks. It involved a monumental flower-like structure which opened like a giant music box in the air to turn Skegness into a ‘magical garden’ - with the help of volunteers from the community.

During the week, the So Festival has brought art and music into towns across East Lindsey.

It arrived in Skegness on Friday and over the three days, there has been entertainment in the Tower Gardens, Central Beach, Grand Parade, Tower Esplanade and other areas of the resort.

Acts varied from Grammy-nominated ragtime band The California Feetwarmers to the Bullzini Family and their daring feats of balance eight metres from the ground.
