A vaccine against meningitis B will be introduced on the NHS for young babies if costs can be agreed, in a U-turn announced by Government advisers. Under mounting pressure from charities and senior doctors, the Department of Health’s advisory body, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), has agreed to adopt the Bexsero vaccine after rejecting it last year. Clinicians had written to Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt urging him to adopt the vaccine as a way of protecting young children in particular from the disease.
