Constructed by Miller Homes as part of its Minster View development in the village, Mr Mann and Amelie Woodwards, 12, were given the honour of officially opening the centre at a ceremony on Saturday 28th March.

A time capsule, capturing village and everyday life in 2015, was also buried with instructions for it to be opened in the distant future.

Ann-Marie Morley, chair of Gringley Community Centre management committee, said: “We are delighted that we can unveil this fantastic new centre for the villagers of Gringley-on-the-Hill and look forward to it becoming a vibrant meeting place for young and old alike.”

“We are thrilled to be able to leave a legacy for the future in terms of the centre and also by arranging an amazing time capsule so that we, along with Miller Homes, have provided something tangible that will provide a window into Gringley village life for generations to come.”

Those who attended the event were also given a tour of the centre and all its facilities along with the itinerary of events and occasions that are scheduled to take place there.

Minster View is a development of just 52 homes specifically designed to bring much needed homes to rural communities.
