There were prizes for best Lambretta, best Vespa and best scooter and £600 was raised for a local woman suffering from Down’s Syndrome in need of support.
Rob Castle said it went really well. There was music on the Saturday night with Dave Morris playing northern soul and ska while on Sunday there was a family fun day, display of scooters and a mass ‘ride out’ around the town headed by Nicky Reeves, a club member with down’s syndrome who was given a mobility scooter specially converted by fellow members to have a Vespa body on it.
Rob said that since the first ‘Happy Chappy Ride Out’ Nicky and his scooter have become internet sensations around the world.

“He is now known internationally,” said Rob.
“We are also looking to build another specialised mobility scooter for another deserving person,” he said.
