VIDEO: Service of remembrance in Boston

A service of remembrance which took place in Boston today (Friday) has seen the biggest turnout of school children and schools.

The service at Boston War memorial saw youngsters from around the town join the nation in paying its respects to those who fought for the country.

The service commemorated the opening of the Boston Garden of Remembrance, and included guests the Mayor of Boston Coun Stephen Woodliffe.

Chairman of Boston and District Royal British Legion George Reed said the attendance by young people had grown since they started working to attract more schools to get involved six years ago.

He said: “It’s important that the younger generation understand and learn the lessons and that they carry on in remembrance.

“It is always nice to see children here getting a real understanding for the feel of what’s going on.”
