Village hall scoops £3,000 grant

Oldcotes Village Hall has scooped a £3,000 grant to spruce up its facilities.

The money has come from Biffaward, a multi-million pound fund that helps to build communities through awarding grants to community and environmental projects across the country.

The money will be used to improve the hall’s toilets, which have been in place since the hall was built in 1966.

Both male and female toilets will be revamped, and a new baby changing facility will be installed in the disabled facility.

John Woffinden, project coordinator, said: “I am absolutely delighted that we can now, at last, complete the village hall’s refurbishment.”

Gillian French, Biffaward programme manager, added: “It is vital that communities have local places to meet and socialise, and the refurbishment work at Oldcotes Village Hall will benefit everyone who currently uses the facility, as well as hopefully drawing in new members of the community.”
