Volunteers sought to make iconic poppy sculpture memorable for all

There is less than a month to go before the iconic event Poppies: Wave arrives at Lincoln Castle- and volunteers are being sought to help ensure visitors have a memorable experience.

Wave is one of two sculptures from the installation ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’, a display of 888,246 poppies honouring the deaths in the British and Colonial forces of the First World War, which was originally at HM Tower of London in 2014.

The castle has been selected as the only place where this sculpture can be seen during the remainder of 2016 and the castle is looking for people to join its existing team of staff and volunteer to make sure people can still make the most of their visit.

Councillor Nick Worth, Executive member for culture and heritage at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We want to make sure that everyone continues to get a proper Lincoln Castle welcome and has the kind of experience that will keep them coming back.

“We’re looking for volunteers who are confident and happy to work outdoors.”

The castle is holding open days for prospective volunteers on Saturday 7 and Sunday May 8, from 11am to 3pm.
